About the event
It is estimated that one in five women experience common mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. Many factors can contribute to the development of these conditions; however, some risk factors are more common among women. The number of women caring for their families, living in poverty, and experiencing abuse is higher than the number of men. Events in women's lives and hormonal changes may also adversely affect their mental health. According to statistics, COVID-19 has led to an increase in distress calls across the country. We invite you to participate in our discussion of the intersection of women and mental health. You will gain an understanding of how to give our mental health the attention and tools to combat the stigma associated with mental illness.
